Welcome to Eastington Primary School's latest achievers. All these children have been nominated by a teacher for something special and have been added to the 'Golden Book'. Please read all about our fantastic achievers for this week! -

Week ending 26.05.17
Class 1

Rubie - for showing great empathy for others and helping the pre-school children settle into the classroom on their visits.

 

Maisie - for working on her writing and increasing the pace of work as well as improving on her spelling. Well done Maisie.

Class 2

Georgia - for really thinking carefully when answering a reasoning question in maths – well done!

Lexie-May - for always being willing to co-operate with others and offering to help when needed. Thank you and well done.

Class 3

Chloe - for writing a fantastic poem. She used effective verbs, nouns and counted the syllables to make it flow. Keep this up!

Daisy - for co-operating well with everything we do in Class 3 and always trying to improve with her work and friendships. Well done!

Class 4

Ollie - for fantastic language choices in his poetry writing – you really considered the audience Ollie, well done.

 

Ava - for solving a reverse calculation independently, carefully applying skills and checking the answer – well done.

Class 5

Oliver - for being so thoughtful during swimming yesterday. Something he did showed what a kind person he is – a great friend.

 

Ben W - for his Rousseau style painting. He showed that he really understood the style of Rousseau’s work and techniques.

Lola - for making great progress in Maths. You know how to order your numbers and can do 1 more or 1 less mentally.

 

Basil - for great sounding of his words and recognition of his words in his word pack.

This week we have to say well done to all of the Year 2 children who have worked with resilience and diligence throughout the week. We are very proud of you.

Class 3

Isabella - for her enthusiasm with our topic about the rainforest and answering questions thoughtfully this week.

Flossie - for super maths work and challenging herself to do more problem-solving questions. Well done!

Class 4

Jorja - for being so brave at swimming yesterday. We are all so proud of how you have overcome your fears …. 3 times! Well done.

 

Holly - for super maths work – showing great focus and applying of skills.

Class 5

Shawn - for conquering his fears over and over again in swimming – he has progressed so far as he is willing to give everything a go.

 

Jacob R - for being such a good friend to Edgar earlier this week. It was lovely to see how you took care of him.

Class 1

Rio-James - for his enthusiasm for learning, particularly his writing. He has been choosing to write at the writing table and is sounding out his words very well.

 

Phoebe - for really believing in her ability now. You are not afraid to have a go anymore Phoebe. Super confidence.

Class 2

Freya - for working so diligently on her mental maths every afternoon – you are making great progress – well done!

Emelia - for being so well-mannered. She always says please and thank you – it really does make a difference to our class – thank you!

Class 3

George - for much improved story writing. His hot write included good paragraphs and great word choices. Keep this up!

Hero - for applying himself well at the start of a task this week, especially with maths. You can do it Hero!

Class 4

Erin and Ruth - for fantastic persuasive writing! Both girls have considered how they can use their writing toolkits to aid them in their work. Well done.

Class 5

I can’t possibly just pick 2 children this week as I am so incredibly proud of each and every one of our year sixes. They all deserve a huge round of applause. I also want to say how wonderful the year fives have been with the change to the timetable – it was really appreciated how they just got on with everything.

Sophie and Violet – for working so hard in their writing. You have both been very diligent all week. They have both written every day and we are seeing such good progress. Keep it up girls.

Chloe – for being determined to become a good role model for others. You have really improved your work, concentrating carefully on the quality. Well done.

Daniel – for working so diligently on his morning work with his response partner (Sophie). You have really improved your spellings through your focussed work. Well done.

Emma – for challenging herself to achieve more in the time given especially in maths. Well done!

Eva – for working hard on her times tables and applying them in our 4 in 5 sessions. Well done!

Jack - for writing a sentence independently and using his phonic knowledge to sound out words. Brilliant. Keep it up Jack.

 

Seren - for coming into class with such a good attitude to learning and being such a good role model. Thank you Seren.

Class 2

Toby - for producing an excellent piece of writing when predicting the outcome of a story. You really thought carefully about the vocabulary you used to make it interesting for the reader. Well done.

Jessica - for all her extra practise with spellings over the holidays! You have worked very hard to spell all those suffix words – well done.

Class 3

Ted - for achieving brilliantly with his Smart moves programme this week. He has challenged himself to do harder tasks and shown good co-ordination and skill.

Martha - for applying her skills when measuring in maths. Great independent work – keep this up.

Raphy - for fantastic progress in maths – Raphy is really applying himself and responding well to challenges.

Rosie M - for her fabulous work during our SPaG revision sessions and making an effort to ensure her punctuation is accurate.

Jacob - for showing great diligence in his maths work. You are remembering to count back from 20 to 0 and say the number that is 1 more than a given number.

 

Jasmine - for writing with clearer finger spaces and remembering to use a full stop.

Class 2

Izabella - for being such a hard working class member and also a good friend to everyone. Well done.

Wilf - for working hard to improve his handwriting and his super science knowledge! Well done.

Class 3

Poppy - for great progress with reading and spelling. A huge difference in her own writing applying the rules and patterns we have been learning. Keep this up.

Imogen - for always working hard and taking on board new ideas. A great attitude to all your lessons. Well done!

Class 4

Anna - great application of spelling strategies – we are seeing huge progress and a very mature and proactive approach to self-checking – well done.

 

Freya - for such improvements to your handwriting and presentation of work – keep it up !

Class 5

Edgar - for his calm, hardworking nature in lessons. You’re showing great focus at the moment. Well done.

 

Tyler - for his ability to think problems through in maths. Rather than Tyler asking for help, he has a go first, then checks what he’s done.

Phoenix - for her good cutting skills and excellent sounding out for labelling Nocturnal animals.

 

Florence - for working independantly to produce her own version of Jasper and the Beanstalk using the boxed up method of story writing.

Class 2

Quinn - for hard work on his writing skills. He wrote a super story with lots of description. Well done.

Nathan - for putting in lots of effort with ‘Mathletics’. What a lot of certificates you are getting – well done!

Class 3

Piers - for sounding out spellings accurately and finding new words with the same pattern. Well done – keep this up!

Scarlett - for improved listening skills and co-operating well with friends. This has made a big difference - keep it up!

Class 4

Edward - for some lovely language choices in his writing – Edward really captured the scene in his extended descriptions.

 

Adam - for being so enthusiastic about his writing yesterday – putting in all that effort meant you achieved some lovely work – well done.

Class 5

Thomas - for his organisation around the classroom. Thomas is always prepared and ready and ensures those around him have all they need. What a great, useful skill ready for secondary.

 

Jacob P - your enthusiasm for maths is wonderful and it’s great how you are always up for a challenge!

Florence and Jasmine – for superb diligence displayed whilst writing their Jasper stories. You took great care girls – well done.

Class 2

Oliver – for being a kind, thoughtful and caring member of the class. Always respectful, always trustworthy and always diligent. Superb!

Maude – for her resilience in getting her letters just the right size – not too big and not too small! You should be very proud of yourself!

Class 3

Caitlin – for her enthusiasm and great work during Japan Day. She always shows great tolerance and understanding in activities like this. Well done!

Max – for his excellent reasoning and explanation skills with the Viking game on Wednesday. Hrothgar was impressed with the chess like moves Max could describe. Well done!

Class 4

Callum and Theo – for displaying super leadership skills in young leaders this week. Well done boys.

Class 5

Martha – for writing a beautiful Haikus which created personification and imagery in the mind of the reader.

 

William – for neat stitching skills when sewing his viking sail then sharing those skills when helping class 3.

Class 1

Laila-May and Rubie - This week the wards go to two girls who have not only learnt all the words to quite a longt song but also performed it to the whole school in assembly on Wednesday. You were very brave and so confident. Lovely singing girls. (Lottie also helped too as a backing singer!)

Class 2

George - for being a consistently hard-working, respectful and caring pupil. He can always be relied upon to try his very best. Well done.

Liyah - for her conscientious attitue to learning. She always listens carefully and works hard to succeed. Well done!

Class 3

Lottie - for deciding to improve her pencil grip and work hard with forming her letters correctly. This is great as it has come from you! Keep this up.

Jasmine - for challenging herself in maths and always wanting to find different ways to solve problems. Well done!

Class 4

Poppy - for showing great resilience when faced with tricky maths tasks – well done Poppy – keep up this positive attitude towards your learning.

 

Sophie - for being an ‘active learner’ – making choices about starting a lesson and being ready to learn and listen. Well done.

Class 5

Shawn - for his delightful metaphor poem about a star – he really understood the purpose and structure and created beautiful metaphors.

 

Gabbie - for her focus in all lessons – Gabbie increases the pace of her learning as she is focused during every part of the lesson.

Finley - for really sticking at his subtraction work this week and in the end completely secure in what he was doing. You’ve got it now.

 

Rio - for demonstrating super basektball skills in the playground. He showed great resilience. Fantastic.

Class 2

Ella - for working extremely hard on learning to spell the Year 2 ‘tricky’ words, even practising at play time! Well done!

Harrison N - for great progress with his reading, both at home and at school. What a diligent pupil you are!

Class 3

Isabella - for improved understanding with fractions and being able to demonstrate equivalence. Keep this up!

Lilly - for challenging herself in writing. She has been using her toolkit to improve sentences and develop paragraphs.

Class 4

James - great work on recognising the differences between reported and direct speech, and applying these into his writing. Lovely work.

 

Florence - for always working hard to challenge herself and her understanding.

Zac - for his wonderful poem describing a jungle. A fabulous combination of metaphors and personification – well done.

 

Jon - for his practical and logical thinking when designing a viking warrior ship – you’d be a great designer to have on board.

Myla - for being extremely resilient in maths when subtracting this week. What great progress you made!

Marcie - for her careful word choices when writing instructions for making a pancake. Well done!

Hero - for using good reasoning skills in maths and being able to explain his answers to the class.

Martha - for improved reading skills. She is beginning to search the text for evidence and find answers independently.

Ava - for showing that she can tackle her maths work independently. Ava has been working hard with the decimals work set her – well done.

 

Holly - Holly has a fantastic approach to her school work this year. She tries hard to read and consider each task before asking for help – great work Holly, keep it up.

Jack - for setting himself targets and being so motivated to smash them! We’ve noticed a positive change in your attitude. Keep it up!.

Cameron - for excellent work in maths, Cameron has been applying his knowledge of fractions into his decimal work, very well done.

 

Bea - a super attitude to all she does – Bea always comes in with a smile, tries her best and asks for extra homework !!!

Harun – for working hard to improve his writing, not only in English but also in Science lessons! Well done.

Jessica – for her great concentration and working hard to improve both her writing and maths skills. Well done.

Imogen – for making a huge effort with handwriting. She is taking time to form her letters correctly and write neatly on the line. Keep this up!

George – for improved sentence structure in his writing. A great cold write this week with much more thought to the quality of his work. Can’t wait for the hot write!

George – for not only being a kind, caring and thoughtful member of the class but also being a fabulous ‘donkey’ / judge in the KS1 Christmas play! That’s a ‘10’ from us!

Toby – for a huge effort in boxing up his ideas for a non-chronological report. Well done with your writing.

Maude – for persevering with over arm throwing in PE, without her thumb in her mouth! You really tried Maude, well done.

Piers – For amazingly detailed story recall in front of the class about Chinese Dragon.

Scarlett – For making some good choices about a working partner this week.

Class 3

Ollie – for making good choices with his new year resolution. He has thought through the consequences and realised he will be a better person in making this choice. Very well done.

Raphy – for settling in so well to Eastington School and quickly joining in with Class 3. Well done!

Class 4

Lily – for working well in maths applying her key skills to help solve her sums.

 

Jamie – for making the right choice in her maths lesson. Jamie understood that to learn, she needed to work quietly and sensibly. Quote from another child sitting near her, “Jamie hasn’t spoken to me once!”

Class 5

Rosie – for consistently making good choices whatever she is doing – Rosie is aware of the consequences of her decisions and uses that to help make sensible choices.

 

Toby – for his enthusiasm towards maths – it was really noticeable yesterday to see how much he was enjoying learning – lovely to see.

Ted – for both his resilience and diligence in maths when inversing multiplications to make divisions.

Jasmine – for being a great response partner by listening carefully and making suggestions for improvement.

Class 3

Daisy – for working diligently in maths. She clearly set out her number lines to show addition and subtraction. Well done!

Milo – for showing greater independence in his work and persevering with a task until the end. Keep up this great effort!

Class 4

Rosie – for wonderful concentration and excellent pair work with Charlie – we were really impressed.

 

Shawn – for putting 100% into his fiction writing – diligent and careful with his ideas.

Hermione – for her diligent work in maths – she took her time and checked her work really carefully.

 

Lilian – for her wonderful recount of an alien’s visit to earth – it was really observant and made Miss Gulliford really giggle.

Jacob – for improved sitting and listening on the carpet. You are a super role model now Jacob, well done.

Jessica – for always being ready to learn, listening carefully to instructions and completing her work with diligence.

Emma – for thoroughly self-checking her writing against the success criteria.

Class 3

Anna – for showing diligence with writing and maths. She always puts in a huge amount of effort and works hard consistently. Well done!

Cameron – for good observations with our English work – spotting 1st/3rd person, important vocabulary and appropriate punctuation. Keep this up.

Class 4

Edgar – Edgar has had a super week, diligently producing his work with care and thought.

 

Charlie – (from before half term) – such a brave boy, having his mod-roc mask done – losing his sight and ability to speak and because he had removed his hearing aid as well, losing his hearing too. Incredibly brave.

Class 5

Emily – for being so diligent with her decimal multiplication – working so carefully to ensure that every answer was correct – well done.

 

Imogen – for her hard work when practising comma use and identifying different clauses within sentences – your hard work meant you had a really good understanding – super!

Daniel – For putting a smile on another classmates face by helping her undo her coat when she was struggling. Daniel did this without prompting. Thank you Daniel

 

Jack – For persevering when writing his numbers. Jack formed the numbers 0 – 10 perfectly on his whiteboard.

Class 2

Hero – for being such a happy and energetic boy. You bring a sense of fun wherever you go!

Matilda – for showing determination and great concentration with her poem this week – well done!

Class 3

Callum – for being honest about his work and playtimes. He always explains things exactly how they are and this is great to see.

Rocco – for always trying his best with friendships. Rocco is very caring and knows when to hold back or when to get involved. Well done.

Class 4

Jack – for working in a team co-operatively during our small group work designing our star catcher machines.

 

Holly – for being such a happy, friendly girl – making us all feel happier just seeing you!

Emelia – for being honest and trustworthy when taking the register back to Mrs Lester in the office. She was so polite too.

 

Bethan – for already reading books with words, sounding out and blending on her own.

Nel – for being an honest and trustworthy RRS class representative – such a sensible and responsible role model.

Alex - for thinking differently about the maths problem in class this week, and for using great maths vocabulary to support his learning.

Class 3

Ava – for being open and honest with her work especially in Maths. Ava knows to explain what she is doing now.

Ruth – for being a good role model in class – thinking about her learning and always working to the best of her ability.

Oliver – a reliable, mature member of the class, Oliver is always so trustworthy in his actions and tasks. Well done

 

Xan – for showing great stickability! We were attempting to create perfect circles using a compass – which was a challenge. Xan stuck with it showing great improvements. Well done

Class 5

Jon – for being very honest during our netball game on Wednesday – it really helps Jon so thank you.

 

Ellis – also during netball, Ellis was incredibly defensive – always trying so hard to get the ball back to his own team – what a great team player

Nathan - for displaying super co-ordination during PE, particularly with a bat and ball.

 

Polly – for being courageous when meeting her big friend for the first time.

Class 2

Poppy – For being courageous when reporting back from her first School Council breakfast meeting to the whole class.

Ella – for always being ready and enthusiastic to learn new things. She is also a great role model for being a good listener.

Class 3

Bea - for being courageous at Bristol Museum. She had to be an art expert and talk about a painting she liked. Bea was very confident. Well done!

Sophie – for her enthusiasm with our topic on ancient Egypt. She has made two models at home and learning her Egyptian words very carefully. Keep this up!

Class 4

Zac – for being very brave and facing the year 5 CAT tests with a smile. It was great to see Zac do his best – well done

 

Tyler – for being a good all-rounder! Tyler works hard in all he does, working well with others and always having a smile on his face.

Amber – for being courageous at Bristol Museum yesterday by volunteering to go first when talking about their preferred painting.

Seren – for painting a very imaginative ‘singing tree’ using the autumn colours. Well done.

Chloe – for resilience in practising writing the number 3 correctly and carefully – well done!

Chloe – for showing amazing expression and confidence in our drama session, great work!

Class 3

Oscar – for starting the new term with enthusiasm and working very hard. He has shown diligence with his maths and writing.

Florence – for a sensible start in Class 3 showing resilience in finishing work carefully and going the extra mile!

Class 4

Shawn – for showing a super effort towards his reading group discussions – sharing his thoughts and responding well to others.

 

Gabbie – for showing her resilience to all tasks. Gabbie throws herself into everything and keeps going even if difficult.

Arthur – for his resilience towards a maths puzzle on Wednesday – he kept going – even giving up most of his lunchtime – in order to solve it! Well done Arthur.

 

Mae – for her attentiveness, not just now and again, but all the time, so she is always ready to get going, having taken in all the necessary information – fabulous.

Harun – for showing resilience whilst experimenting with the cars and long tubes. He did not give up when one of the cars got stuck and he solved a problem when one of the cars was too wide for the tube. Well done Harun.

 

Lily – for helping the new reception children find things in the classroom. You have a lovely caring nature Lily, well done.

Class 2

Perin – for meeting every new experience with a smile and showing great resilience at all his tasks so far.

Flossie – for looking after the little ones and being a great role model – well done Flossie!

Class 3

Callum – for showing resilience in completing verb endings. He made sure he had all the correct words and stuck with it to the end!

Lilly – for being helpful with new books in our class library and showing others where to find certain colours.

Class 4

Jamie – for showing us all how she can start the term with the right attitude – determined to do her best and resilient in her approach to writing.

 

Esme – for smiling! It’s such a big change with lots of things to take in, but all done happily

Class 5

Ben – for showing real resilience across the board – whether working with place value in Maths or writing a letter in English – he has stuck with it and kept going – well done.
