School Council

Our school supports the British Values including democracy. We were elected to be school council members by our classmates after explaining who we were, our skills and why we wanted the role. We have elected a chairperson who helps to organise our meetings and ideas, Mrs Yorke and Mrs Lord help us too. Gathering ideas from classmates and reporting back to them after meetings is an important part of our job.

Meeting together is fun - we usually have a business breakfast to talk about how we can make our school an even better place and how we can support others. Each meeting we follow an agenda.

In November we organised Children In Need Day. We planned lots of fun activities like dressing up, drawing competitions, a ‘bring and buy’ sale, a cake stall, guess the name of Ms Avastu’s teddy competition (it was called sausage dog!). On the day everyone looked fantastic in their costumes and overall we raised about £350 to help other children!

In addition, we have worked hard to find ways to improve lunchtime play. We have set up a buddy bus stop bench so children who are looking for a friend to play with can find one quickly. We have organised a playbox including different types of skipping equipment, hoops, balance balls, team skis so we can be active and play together. Making a rota of activities with the lunch supervisors was tricky and took a few tries to get it right. Now we have time for basketball, football, playbox, library and our own games
